So I started seeing a chiropractor about 8 years ago. I had pretty serious back and neck pain and I met a chiropractor at Earth Day that was giving free alignments. He was very kind and charismatic and really seemed to have his sh!t together so I started seeing him regularly at his office.
Everything was great until a year or so ago when I started to notice that he was drunk every time I went to see him. I wanted to give him a lot of leeway since he had always been very generous with me and had never given me a bad alignment but I started to get concerned because he was ALWAYS drunk.
Granted chiropractics is not open heart surgery so maybe it’s not the end of the world to be intoxicated while you are giving out alignments, but the amount of intoxication seems to be increasing.
I think the biggest problem is that I am lazy and I do not want to do the work to get to know a new chiropractor so I keep going back hoping that I had just caught him on a bad day. But I think I have to come to terms with this situation because it is getting worse not better.
And the thing is, I don’t really mind that he is drunk but the other situation is that he leaves me on the table and goes into the other room and falls asleep. I have been left on that table for a good hour waiting for him to wake up.
Needless-to-say this is a major personal situation that now demands my attention. Am I being too judgmental? Is this really a big deal?
