‘The Bachelor Season 16’ finale: Good vs. Courtney

Oh….the drama. You gotta love how much ABC must love that they’ve pitted the entire country (really, the globe) against Bachelor Season 16 frontrunner model Courtney Robertson, 28. I mean…Courtney gave the show’s editors a lot of hate-filled sound bytes and footage to work with, so she can only be so surprised by her show edit. And, for the first time in Bachelor history, the show had two lead characters: Bachelor Ben himself, and the evil Siren Courtney Robertson. No one even really seems to care or notice that we’re supposed to be sitting on the edges of our seats during Monday’s finale.

For the first time in Bachelor history, I barely have any interest in the bulk of the finale, since it’s been so obvious all season long who he’s going to propose to (with an extra special NO THANKS to Us Weekly and Reality Steve for eliminating ANY mystery that was already barely there).

The only parts I really want to see are: 1) Any scenes involving Chris Harrison and his amazing hand gestures and professionalism (gotta love how he gets flown to Switzerland just to escort the final two ladies–arm in arm–to Ben); 2) Neil Lane, his box of engagement rings and his sturdy “good luck, bro” handshake; and 3) What Ben’s sister, Julia Flajnik, is going to have to say about his final two ladies (Will she hate Courtney? Or will she just see her brother’s love-struck face and love Courtney just for giving Ben that goofy grin?).

Speaking of the finale, and how Courtney-centric everything has been, have you seen ABC’s latest promo for finale? It uses the same soundtrack from the early ABC trailers for Once Upon A Time, which actually works surprisingly well, considering Courtney is being portrayed as the Evil Queen of the season:

I’m also finding it kind of interesting that both of Ben’s final two amazing ladies, Lindzi Cox and Courtney Robertson, are opting to wear such DARK and dramatic outfits for their potential proposals. Are they going dark because it’s cold out and only sunny climates equal sunny attire? I mean….I just can’t imagine wearing something so gloomy for what they are both (we assume) hoping will be a happy and glorious occasion. At first, I was thinking ABC put Courtney up to wearing black, just to drive their edited-to-be-EVIL point home, but then Lindzi is wearing just as Gothic of an outfit as Courtney is (although, in my I-am-totally-not-stylish opinion, I think Lindzi’s dress is WAY prettier than Courtney’s).

Oh, Ben and your final rose…. Who will you choose during Monday night’s finale? Will it be GOOD or COURTNEY? (Note: I don’t think him picking Lindzi is necessarily the right choice simply because she’s nicer than Courtney. Ultimately, it seems like Ben didn’t click with any of the girls except for Courtney, which is why this season has been such a situation!!!!!)
