Roberto Martinez asking for $750,000 to be the next ‘Bachelor’

It appears that ABC’s next Bachelor, Roberto Martinez, is in the midst of negotiating a major deal with ABC to be The Bachelor. Roberto reportedly wants $750,000 to lead the show (which is apparently what Emily got).

Ok, so does this mean the deal has not been inked? Because we are begging ABC and The Bachelor to reconsider their choice for the Bachelor if they can. We wrote about the choice here in our piece: “Is Roberto Martinez really the best choice for the next ‘Bachelor’?

In that post, we break down why the choice is wrong for ABC — and it has nothing to do with Roberto’s ethnicity. The Bachelor is supposed to be such an uber catch that 25 ladies will quit their full-time jobs and leave their young children (if they are single moms) for 9 weeks just to see if they have a chance at finding love. He’s supposed to be a risk-taking entrepreneur, or a medical doctor, or an accomplished entertainer, or even a non-profit creator. Jef Holm or Arie Luyendyk, Jr. would be excellent Bachelors because they have those qualities. The Bachelor is not supposed to be a nice guy you’d meet on Match.com with a safe middle-management career selling insurance — like Roberto!

Not to mention the part about Roberto’s issues with anger management. In an interview with former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky in People magazine back in December, Ali shocked readers when she revealed why things didn’t work out between her and Roberto. The magazine says this:

A source close to Ali says one of their biggest issues was Roberto’s temper-which was often triggered by arguments over his traditional, conservative values. “Roberto seemed bothered that Ali was career-minded and had a social life. He is very old-fashioned when it comes to a woman’s place,” says the source. Ali concedes that she often tried to play the part of dutiful helper: “I helped him build his business, and I’d bring him lunch all the time,” she says. “I was so supportive of him.” Even so, their fights had intensified lately. “In the past six months he kind of lost it,” says the source. “He’d be really good and sweet in public, but their fights could be explosive.”

The alarming allegation should concern producers who are looking to cast the ultimate fantasy husband — a husband that should above all else be a “gentle”man. Also, we need to pat ourselves on the back for “calling” the Roberto and Ali breakup early on, using our ancient enneagram matchmaking skills. Read all about it here!

So, ABC and people who produce The Bachelor, we are urging you to reconsider your decision to cast Roberto as the Bachelor before you ink this critical, $750,000 deal!!

  1. I cannot believe what I am reading in this article. You are saying that Roberto is not good enough to be the next Bachelor because he is just an insurance agent trying to build his own buisiness. Sorry but I would date him before I would date Arie or Jef. From what I have read Roberto has the biggest heart, loves children and is a hard worker what more does a women want. By the way I do not believe anything that Ali or her friends say. Most of the Bachelor Nation supports him and not her. So for me Roberto is worth every penny and I hope now he does become the next Bachelor his is worthy in my book. By the way there is nothing wrong with him being an Insurance Agent!
