Micro Situation Recap: Bachelor Canada episode 4

Welcome to Penny Farthing’s micro recap. These will be the opposite of the typical War and Peace-length recaps that a lot of bloggers out there are doing. I mean…some of these bloggers even include commentary on the commercials that air during the franchise’s two-hour Monday time slot!

I prefer to read a recap that takes less than the show’s running time to get through. So, we’re providing an alternative for those of you (like us) that prefer to read fun, quick recaps. If you’d like to read longer tomes, we do have some favorite (lengthy) Bachelor/ette bloggers we can refer you to — just ask!

Bachelor Canada episode 4 recap

What an episode! I was blown away. I was excited. But, in the end, I was left VERY disappointed with Brad and his Final Four ladies. See! I couldn’t even call them his “Final Four amazing ladies,” like I usually would! Out of his final ladies, I actually only find one of them to potentially be “amazing” worthy, and that’s Kara. But, the jury is still out on her, too, since he zipped us through to hometowns too quickly for us viewers to really even get to know each of the ladies all that well.

The 4on1 date seemed like a standard pomp and circumstance filler date — without much opportunity for him to really connect with anyone. The only real conversation that happened was between him and Britany, who, can I just say, is seriously a CLASS ACT. From her honest emotions during the 4on1, to her comforting nature around Chantelle in her time of need, to her down-to-earth and heart-felt response to not getting a rose…. she was really a stand-out this episode. Ugh, Brad! What are you doing, buddy!

I mean, watching Bachelor Canada has been an interesting experience for me. As a long-time fan of the American show, I can tell you that it has BEEN AWHILE since they’ve cast a Bachelor that really seemed to be the fantasy catch that every girl dreams of. And I’m not saying Brad is perfect, but he’s a heck of a lot closer to “fantasy husband material” than upcoming Bachelor Sean Lowe will be. Laura B even said it: “Brad is cute, sexy, fun, funny, kind and genuine” (I’m paraphrasing here). I can tell you right now that Sean Lowe, the State Farm Insurance Agent, will not be sexy, fun, funny or genuine. He may be cute and kind, but we all already know he wants to give his final rose to the Big Man Upstairs. Basically, what I’m saying is that Sean’s season seems like it’s going to be a snoooooze (of course, I’ll still watch, but the amazing ladies are really going to have to pick up some slack to keep up the viewership on this one!). But, Brad, like most of the Bachelors, still seems to be making some really wonky decisions.

This show is OFF THE HOOK with its budget though, which has been fun to watch. A 2on1 in Paris?!?! That date had all the drama of a typical Bachelor finale, with the amazing locale and the getting dressed up after having two individual 1on1s… Can you imagine how awful that I-didn’t-get-a-rose baggage snag and I-got-booted flight home must have been? BRUTAL!

And, for the first time in Bachelor history we actually got to hear Brad tell Laura B the real, honest deal for why he was letting her go: she had a mini meltdown and she’s too insecure! Amazing!

I get the sense that Bianka is going to go far, but I just don’t get the sense that she’s really all that into him. And Whitney……she’s just getting all of the adrenaline dates and has him wrapped around her finger, but he’s gotta know she’s the girl in the house that no one likes.

Gabrielle? I just have no idea why she’s even still there — other than to piss off Whitney, which the Producers must love.

So, that leaves us with Kara. I hope she’s awesome, because she’s the only one I can even remotely see Brad ending up with…. and I don’t even know enough about her at this point to even be able to say that with much conviction!

Hats off to Bachelor Canada for shaking up the typical routine of the American show, though. That’s definitely been fun. Hometowns are next week (episode 5!), which is just down right NUTTY! Is this season shorter than the American one? It must be…..unless we have a lot of hardcore exotic 1on1s and overnight dates ahead. Like, 5 episodes worth.

Viva!

UPDATE: 3:19:2014 Brad and Bianka announce their break up!
