The Bachelor Season 17: 50 shades of amazing lady

So this season of The Bachelor it looks like ABC decided to add a little flavor to the mix of amazing lady-ness. We were floored in creating our bio pages when we discovered there was not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR women of color on this season!!! AND as a bonus there are amazing ladies of Asian and Persian heritage as well! Of course last week we learned that Sean Lowe actually told producers he likes ladies in all shades and ethnicities and that his last girlfriend was in fact a black girl!

So no surprise that producers “brought it” this season and filled the Mansion with an array of gorgeous and diverse girls. I know a lot of fans give producer Mike Fleiss a ton of flack for stacking the Bachelor pool with white girls, but I don’t hold that against producers. They basically need the lead to fall in love. I’m sure they do the best they can to create diversity, but let’s be honest, the Bachelor is a show geared towards white chicks and white chicks are gonna be the girls that come to casting calls in droves.

Robyn Howard, The Bachelor, Sean LoweWe are happy with a lead of any ethnicity as long as they are charismatic and can handle a situation!! Here is producer Mike Fleiss’ response to the ethnicity lawsuit:

We really tried, but sometimes we feel guilty of tokenism. Oh, we have to wedge African-American chicks in there! We always want to cast for ethnic diversity, it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would.

It was 24-year-old Account Manager Robyn Howard from Houston Texas that pulled Sean aside to see if he would really date a black girl and I gotta give her major props for addressing the pink elephant in the mansion.

She is a Houston Rockets Power Dancer and we know Sean LOVES a girl that can dance.

AshleyHThen there is Ashley H who I like to call Nikki Minaj. Unfortunately we don’t know much about her because she got booted night one. All we really knew is that girl had a seriously amazing head of hair!!!

Then there is Brooke the 25 year-old Community Organizer from Philadelphia eliminated night 2 so we also don’t have a lot of intel on her except that she likes the looooooooooong extendo earrings.

Now Catherine Giudici we do have a lot of intel on. In fact her dad weighed in on our ethnicity piece to give us the exact stats on Catherine’s ethnic make-up. Her mom is Filipino. Her dad said this: “Actually my ancestors are from Switzerland (hence the Italian name) and Scotland. A number of friends and I will be watching The Bachelor for the first time. Very proud of her.”

Selma Alameri, The Bachelor, Sean LoweThen we have Iraqi and Lebanese Selma Alameri the 29 year-old CEO of a Real Estate Development company in San Diego who is pretty hot but I can’t get passed the fact that she is a Real Estate Developer. Real Estate Developers in my hometown of San Diego are the sleaziest bottom feeders around town and the fact that you can’t find a single photo of what they’ve developed says it all. Hopefully for the sake of the built environment Selma will get a reality show and leave real estate.

When Sean was pressed by producers about what he was looking for he explained it didn’t matter, as he has dated “Persian”, “Hispanic” and “Black” women and the sweet, genuine type is what he is looking for in his future wife, regardless of her race.

People assume because I am blonde and blue-eyed that I go for white girls who are blonde.

So there you have a brief breakdown on the 50 shades of amazing lady-ness on the Bachelor season 17.

Well only time (9-weeks) will tell who Sean will choose!!!

  1. It’s a good thing there wasn’t a conservative Persian Muslim on that show or otherwise, she’d have a Muslim fiance who will threaten him. He better be careful with minority women. Sometimes they might get married off to someone of their own race. If Catherine ever gets set up with a violent Filipino guy

And for the Bachelorette season 9, it will be difficult to feature a diverse cast of men like this, especially if they are Filipino, Persian, etc. because they might be shouting racist rants at other guys and you know guys are more racist than girls.
