We have heard Bachelorette producers speak out on 32-year-old contestant Eric Hill’s sudden tragic death on April 23 after a paragliding accident in Utah, but until now had not heard from Bachelorette contestant Andi Dorfman herself. We know that she and her suitors have all been told the sad news.
Dorfman spoke to People magazine about getting the news.
“When I heard the news, I was devastated.” ….. “Shock, devastation, grief. It’s something you never could have predicted [or] expected.”
Dorfman said she reached out to Hill’s family to offer her condolences.
“And I had just seen him,” she told the magazine. “He was a member of our cast and we had an inherent bond. The [other contestants] shared that bond too. It was shocking and devastating to all of us and it’s still a tough thing that we’re going through.”
Despite a lot of controversy over how ABC would handle Eric’s death, People magazine claims that he will not be edited out of any episodes and he has been released as an official contestant on the show airing May 19th.
Andi made this comment in a recent press conference hinting that Eric was a bit of a controversial character.
“I don’t want to talk too much about what our initial reactions were,” ….”I’d rather spend the time just talking about who Eric was. This is a guy who really lived life to the fullest and inspired all of us.”
Eric reportedly received the first 1-on-1 date with Andi.
“I will always remember Eric’s love for life,” Dorfman said, “People say, ‘Oh he lived life to the fullest.’ But Eric really was the epitome of someone who lived life to the fullest. This man had amazing stories and great experiences. His sense of adventure inspired not only me, but every guy in the house, every producer, every crew member. Everybody says they want to do stuff in their life but he was really doing it.”
The Bachelorette season 10 premieres Monday, May 19 on ABC 9pm.
