I have to confess I find it a little disheartening when I learn that Bachelor couples are turning their reality relationship into lucrative revenue streams. Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert actually seemed like the most genuine couple to emerge of late from The Bachelor franchise even choosing to start their life together in the humble town of Kansas city, Missouri.
But alas former Playboy model Jade, 29 and finance manager Tanner, 28 are following in the footsteps of Shawn Booth and Kaitlyn Bristowe and turning this very popular relationship in to cold hard cash. In fact it looks like social media, and their combined 1.24 million followers on Instagram and Twitter, is turning these two in to millionaires by the age of 30.
“Together, they¹re on track to make $1 million from sponsored posts in 2016,” an inside source told Us Weekly.
The two are getting paid very well to endorse big brands on social media–brands like Hallmark and HelloFresh.com. I have to wonder how long this D-list revenue goldmine can last given this sort of shameless opportunism seems a lot like the snake eating its own tail.
Looks like Tanner is the most eager to cash in fast.
“Tanner wants to take every opportunity thrown his way,” explains the source. “Though Jade is a little apprehensive about losing followers. She wants to be organic in her social media.”
Hmmmm, I wonder how ABC feels about this? Seems like this is a recipe for disaster since The Bachelor franchise is built upon a semblance of authenticity and “true love” which certainly is not about money.
UPDATE 1/07/2020: on Jade and Tanner: Jade Roper won $1 million in a daily fantasy football game for this past weekends games.
