Married at First Sight David Norton and Ashley Doherty just in it for the money?
The FYI show Married at First Sight started on a very promising note when the experts chose Doug Hehner for Jamie Otis and despite no initial chemistry for Jamie the two successfully fell in love over their 6 week journey on national television and are still together.
But that was season 1 and this is season 3 and none of the relationships after season 1 have not immediately ended in divorce…..and disaster. So we discovered that contestants are in fact paid thanks to some angry production staff who worked on season 2 and were laid off.
According to the insider married couples get $20,000 an episode so no wonder a couple who can’t stand one another would stick it out for the duration of the show.
So 29-year-old Software account executive David Norton and 30-year-old Ashley Doherty are clearly not making a real connection, but they are committed to finishing the season. It makes you wonder why Ashley or David does not just walk off and leave, but I think the answer is pretty simple….MONEY.
And David’s mom apparently did not read the part of the contract where you can not blast out how much you are being paid to find ever-lasting love on national television. (I love it when people don’t understand or read their contracts) because David’s mom posted this nugget on Facebook.
“The show is done filming and will air in Nov. They filmed me a lot also because I was the only parent for both of them in Atlanta. I have a lot more respect for actors now, filming is exhausting work. I had to walk into a restaurant and we must of done that one scene 15 times to get all the angles right. We’d start filming early and not finish until past midnight, plus my son still had to work at his job.”
She then explains the process of how the show keeps the contestants in seclusion AND how they are paid!
“I’m glad it’s over and Ashley, my son David’s wife is sweet. I don’t know how it ends because my son and his wife have to stay apart until it airs, kind of like the bachelor. If they break secrecy then they don’t get paid and they would be out $100K. I got 3 Checks from the producers today in the mail, the movie industry pays well and they pay for everything.”
Mom then claims her son was “tricked”!!!
“My son was tricked to be on the show. He was on Tinder and met this girl. When they met in person, she confessed that she was really a producer and asked him to be on the show David refused until they told him how much they would pay him. It was fun but exhausting. My son really wanted to be married and settle down, but I have a feeling Ashley did it for the money because she was unemployed. We’re having a preview party here with all the people that were on the show. I think you’ll like the show, some parts are funny. Hope you’re all doing great. Hugs.”
Wow!!!! Producers using entrapment and honeypots to cast the show! We are truly living in end times. Something tells me season 3 may be the last season of Married at First Sight we ever see in the US.
