Jodi Arias Guilty of 1st Degree Murder

Much to the relief of an anxious public that feared Jodi Arias, 32, would be found innocent, a jury Wednesday found her guilty of 1st degree murder in the death of 30 year-old Travis Alexander. The world has been mesmerized the salacious trial of accused murderer, obsessed stalker, apparent sex-addict, severe Borderline and/or Dissociative Identity Disorder, defendant Jodi Arias. Jodi allegedly stabbed Travis 27 times and shot him in the head.

As the guilty of first-degree murder verdict was being read, Arias began crying.

Jodi admitted to killing Alexander but claimed it was self-defense and she was in an abusive relationship. Jodi’s Attorney Jennifer Willmott said in her opening statement, “Jodi had to make a choice. She would either live or she would die”.

In his closing arguments, prosecutor Martinez exclaimed:

“Are you going to allow her to scam you?”

Arias faces life in prison – and death penalty.

The Courthouse erupted in emotion after the first degree murder verdict was read.

Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery issued the following statement:

“Today’s verdict closes the guilt phase of State v. Jodi Ann Arias. However, the pursuit of justice on behalf of Travis Alexander continues. We look forward to the next phase of the proceedings, where the State will present evidence to prove the murder was committed in an especially heinous, cruel, or depraved manner. Consistent with the State Bar Rules of Professional Conduct, my Office will have no further comment at this time.”

The verdict indicates that the jury believed Arias acted alone in the murder of Travis Alexander. I still believe there were multiple killers due to the magnitude of the injuries and the photograph of Travis which indicates the reflection of two people in his eye. But we will see if anything comes to light in a wrongful death lawsuit by Alexander’s family.
