The Real Housewife franchise is supposed to be all about watching what really really rich women do in their daily lives, but how come so many of these wealthy stars turn out to be bankrupt?
The latest financially strapped Real Housewife is 36-year-old Robyn Dixon from The Real Housewives of Potomac.
Robyn was married to NBA player Juan Dixon, but it turns out that despite the rather lavish lifestyle they lead on the show the two filed for bankruptcy about two and a half years ago.
Robyn tells OK! Magazine, “I’m back on track,” …..“It’s not perfect. It’s not where I want it. We are still dealing with repercussions from everything that’s happened to us,”
She goes on to explain that the bankruptcy had anything to do with her shopping patterns.
“When you hear someone has filed for bankruptcy, people picture people in the casinos just like throwing money in the air.” But, that’s “not what happened,” ..… “There are clear reasons why we went through what we went through, and some things we could avoid. Some things we couldn’t.”
Perhaps this is why her and Juan are still living together despite being divorced. Who knows, but the fact that so many wealthy come out pretty unscathed from bankruptcies makes me seriously wonder if there is something wrong with the whole bankruptcy process that allows them to discharge debts while maintaining very lavish lifestyles.
