Last night on the reunion of Survivor…I mean Vanderpump Rules (season 4), late-comer 27-year-old fashionista Stassi Schroeder battled it out with producer Lisa Vanderpump.
Stassi made yet another sad attempt to appear contrite and apologetic, and even though she was wearing green “the apology color”, it appears to be too little too late.
She told everyone that she needed to “have a rock-bottom moment” to see the error of her ways. But ex boyfriend Jax Taylor and ex friend Tom Sandoval express their suspicions about why Stassi is really apologizing.
And the funniest part was when Jax accused her of rekindling her friendship with Kristen Doute because Kristen is “the weakest link.”
This is what I meant when I said this season felt more like Survivor where the ostracized members of the cast: Kristen, Stassi, Lala Kent, and James Kennedy all tried to build strategic alliances to maintain their relevance on the show. So the biggest “drama” of the season, although it was playing out on-camera was never really mentioned on-camera…. ironically.
So power couple Tom and Jax gang up on Stassi to accuse her of weaseling her way back on the show. Sandoval also expresses outrage about the way Stassi treated ex BFF Katie Maloney. (Sandoval is very angry at the reunion for some reason–I suspect he is lashing out at Stassi because Stassi helped his ex girlfriend Kristen Doute maintain some air time and stay on the show despite not even working at SUR!)
Lisa Vanderpump, who is still angry that Stassi called her “an old woman” (that is the ONE thing you never say about LVP!), says Stassi thinks that everyone should forgive her because she has apologized.
“I think that if there wasn’t this show, none of you would have ever heard from Stassi Schroeder again.”
Well yeah!!! I mean of course that is the case. Stassi hit “rock bottom” after erroneously believing that she could ride her VP Rules fame into other places…like her fashion blog.
But it didn’t work. No one was that interested in Stassi unless she was dishing out brash, cheeky one-liners to co-workers and boyfriends.
So impetuous Stassi is really put in to her place and clearly is still on probation with Lisa Vanderpump even though she is really responsible for the success of the show. Let’s be honest. Granted Tom Sandoval and Kristen Doute took the hot-mess baton and ran with it in season 2 and 3. However without Stassi and Jax there would have been no season 2.
Stassi replied, “I feel that you hold things over my head, like I owe the rest of my life to you all of the time, and I feel like that’s not fair,” and that she did respect her boss, but did not think that she needed to be “wholeheartedly just in love with [Lisa.]”
To which Lisa responded, “I don’t want you to be — trust me because the feeling’s not mutual.”
Well luckily for Stassi she did make peace with BFF Katie Maloney who did accept her apology securing her at least a slot on season 5 of the show.
Vanderpump Rules airs on Bravo on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
