Thirty-four-year-old Landon Clements came to Southern Charm fresh off of a very bitter divorce from 44 year-old British Entrepeneur James Maby on season 2 of the show. For a while the divorce remained a bit of a mystery, but slowly the story behind the divorce situation started to unfold.
Landon talked about dealing with anorexia in the relationship and serious stress.
“I, too, wanted to maintain the facade that everything was fine, but it was literally killing me. At one point, I got down to 95 pounds (I’m 5’9″ so that’s not great), and my hair started falling out from the stress. I had an amazing therapist, and he really helped me to find some clarity and to harness my own strength to remove myself from a dark place.”
In fact the relationship was so stressful that Landon just walked away after 7 years of being together.
“I was living the dream. We had a house in the [Hollywood] Hills, swimming pool, staff, the cars, the jewels. When I moved out of the house I pretty much just walked away from all of it…. ”
“On the inside I was so alone, so I packed up and left. Sometimes you just have to save yourself.”
And she was not kidding. She really did “walk away”…with practically nothing.
In the divorce settlement she received $2,000 a month spousal support for one year, an $18,000 equalization payment, payment of her 2012 tax liabilities of $15,000, and two Bank of America bank accounts totaling $672. Yep. That’s it!
Additionally she agreed to waive any claim to the Maby Family Trust.
It makes me wonder what sort of intimidation James was throwing at her. Obviously Landon likes luxury and she is looking for a man that can give that to her so why did she walk away without a fight?
On this season Landon finally expresses a romantic interest in long time friend Shep Rose, but unfortunately Shep has moved on.
