Tonight September 13th, 2016 Canada’s very own version of The Bachelorette has finally premiered on the W Network.
The gorgeous 27-year-old star Jasmine Lorimer spoke to thestar.com about her groundbreaking journey finding everlasting love on reality TV —- and she promises that things will get emotional and there will be tears.
“The appealing thing about this is you do get a lot of face-to-face time and you’re taking away the phones, and you’re taking away the texting and all those things that can be said over text or misconstrued, and all of your interactions and all of the development of your relationships happens one on one,” she says as we sit face to face across a meeting room table.
Earlier Jasmine conceded that she had no hesitation at all when asked to lead the show. Interestingly she hadn’t watched the U.S. version! Perhaps if she had she would not have been so quick to say “yes”. Haha!
She also admits that there’s no way to prepare yourself for the experience of dating so many people at once — (ummm hello, yes there is, by watching The Bachelorette!) — luckily in Canada they only have 20 contestants to choose from instead of the US standard 25.
But still Jasmine has never dated more than one person at a time.
“I never was able to do that. As soon as I like somebody I just like them and I’ve got blinders on. . . . The weird thing is before going onto this show I had been saying to myself mentally, ‘OK, the next time I get into a relationship I’m not gonna put all my eggs in one basket’ and so there was my ultimate eggless basket.”
Of course we all know the “journey” can get very emotional with so many connections and so many breakups.
“It became difficult at the end,” she said “(Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants) always say I never imagined it would be this hard. It really is like that and you can imagine but, until you’re in it, oh, it’s heartbreaking at times.”
“I really did go into this wholeheartedly, and with the best intentions and with my heart on the line. I did not hold back and I think that the viewers will see that when they watch.
“I went through a lot of hurt through this thing, but I experienced so many good things and took so many positive things from it, and I have no regrets.”
While Jasmine has been mum about whether the show ends in an engagement, but producers certainly did a great job of finding potential suitors.
We have already chosen our favorites…. Kevin P, Benoît Beausejour-Savard, Drew Classen, Andrew Rosen, Kevin W, Kyle Andrew Skinner and Mike Ogilvie
