Once again a perversely corrupt Congress has written legislation that does enormous harm to the people it claims to help– a 1200 page bill that those who voted for never even bothered to read. Disguised as much needed reform, the immigration legislation ramps up the current surveillance state into an Orwellian nightmare and completely destroys the U.S. as a sovereign nation state.
One should wonder why the Republicans and why the very corrupt US Chamber of Commerce lobbied so hard for this bill. Well, simple, its a windfall for mega-corporations. According to the UK Guardian:
“Margaret Hu, a specialist in biometric digital surveillance at Duke university, said that the bill’s ambition to create a fool-proof social security card posed dangers for the general public. “If it is used to create a universal and digitalised biometric database through the collection of digital photos, fingerprint or iris scans, this could be used as a cyber-surveillance tool that could significantly impact the lives of all Americans.”
“The bill uses the word “biometric” some 12 times. Section 3103, on “increasing security and integrity of immigration documents”, instructs the homeland security secretary to report to Congress within a year of the bill passing on “the feasibility, advantages, and disadvantages of including, in addition to a photograph, other biometric information on each employment authorisation document issued by the department”.
The Bill includes a fleet of unmanned aircraft, or drones, sufficient in number to allow them to be deployed “for 24 hours per day and for seven days per week”.
Director of the ACLU’s Washington legislative Laura Murphy, office, said: “This is so expansive. We are really talking about a militarisation of the border on a scale that we have never seen before.”
“When you pass complicated legislation and no one has really read the bill,” Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward noted on Fox News Sunday, “the outcome is absurd.”
• Adds $1.5 billion to President Obama’s failed jobs stimulus, a gift to socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
• Turns the Travel Promotion Act, which was supposed to end in 2015, into a permanent program at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars benefiting Las Vegas casino interests, a gift to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
• Makes a range of serious crimes for which U.S. citizens can be arrested and imprisoned — including assault and battery, drunk driving and tax fraud — “waivable” for illegal immigrants when it comes to their amnesty status.
“Under Obamacare, businesses with over 50 workers that employ American citizens without offering them qualifying health insurance could be subject to fines of up to $3,000 per worker. But because newly legalized immigrants wouldn’t be eligible for subsidies on the Obamacare exchanges until after they become citizens – at least 13 years under the Senate bill – businesses could avoid such fines by hiring the new immigrants instead.”
What the new legislation essentially does is place a tariff on hiring American citizens.
