We are sad to report that the beloved ABC Bachelorette couple Jef Holm and Emily Maynard has decided to part ways after 18 weeks of “dating hard”. This means we will need at least half that time to get over the break up. But in all honesty, it’s hard to be surprised by the news. The cheating and sexting rumors were rampant, the tabloids relentless. We loved Team JEM. We rooted for Jef, Emily, Little Ricki and People Water.
But the official announcement has been made and Team JEM is no more.
We examined the couple’s astrological compatibility right after the finale. And while we were certainly rooting for the two, especially after the heart-warming season finale, unfortunately love was not in the stars for them. Leo and the Aquarius are opposites and very strong-headed characters that have difficulty finding compromise.
They also both need to be the center of attention.
So we had a hunch Team JEM’s days were numbered despite the 9 weeks of on-screen successful dating. Reports from the tabloids suggest the two couldn’t even stand being near each other towards the end.
And it was pretty obvious from the photos posted by People Water and Jef that Emily was not gonna be a part of the picture for long. The two were only officially photographed together on the step-and-repeats during their final days.
Remember when Brad Womack said “boy I dodged a bullet with that one”, referring to his relationship with Emily Maynard ending? I thought that quote said it all pre-season. I have always thought Emily would be quite a handful for any suitor because she was young and a bit immature and demanding. Sorry Emily Maynard fans! I just saw her behavior on the Brad Womack finale and I thought she was really hard on Brad. And people don’t just change overnight. I just have always been a lot more Team Jef than Team Emily.
But I wish the two well. I’m sure neither will have difficulty finding life partners off-screen.

“As you know, at first I wasn’t sure that I should even be The Bachelorette, but I am a hopeless romantic and I do believe in the show. I have no regrets because I did find love and shared an incredible journey with a really special person – and you know what, we tried our best because the love between us was so real.
“I have nothing but respect and love for Jef and his family, but ultimately we are just at different points in our lives.
“I’ve learned so much and I’m grateful for all of the support I’ve received. I’m excited and hopeful for the next chapter in my life with my daughter, Ricki. I do hope that you will respect our privacy and allow us the time we need to heal.”
Jef Holm’s official break up statement:
“Meeting Emily on The Bachelorette was an incredible experience, we’ve had quite the journey. I’ve never loved someone so much in my whole life, Emily is the best person and mom I have ever met. She opened up her world to me and I fell in love with her, [her daughter] Ricki, her family and the Hendricks.
“She has a great group of people who surround her. What we shared was completely genuine and real and it breaks my heart but we have decided to break up.
“Emily will always have a special place in my heart. I don’t regret a single second I spent with her or Ricki. They both have been a huge part of my life. Who knows what tomorrow will bring but we are moving on to the next chapter of our lives.
“Emily and I are great friends and I hope we can continue to be friends forever. Everyone wants a salacious story to break, but the truth is we are just two people who fell in love and tried our hardest to make it work. I will always love her.”
