Get to know Chris Soules Hometown of Arlington Iowa!

A few weeks ago we finally saw Bachelor Chris Soules shockingly tiny Hometown of Arlington, Iowa. The scale and isolation frightened a few of the remaining amazing ladies. Since never in Bachelor history have we had a Bachelor from such a remote town.

My first question is “Ok, don’t panic, what is the next town over? How far would one have to travel to have a career or life of any kind?”

Ok, well, here you go…Arlington is located:

  • 60 miles from Waterloo, Iowa
  • 158 miles from Madison, Wisconsin
  • 65 miles from Cedar Rapids, Iowa
  • 281 miles from Chicago

It has a population of 429 and get this the population peaked in 1900 at a whopping 863 people but that’s not bad considering the town only covers 1.05 square miles.

As far as recreation don’t panic ladies. There are three parks, AND even a tennis court. And several golf courses and swimming pools nearby. Lots of great outdoor opportunities: Brush Creek Reserve, Backbone State Park, Volga Lake, and Osborne Nature Center. There is Ewalu Bible Camp, summer little league, 4-H, scouts, and various church youth groups.

The town is in the Starmont school district known for quality education and innovative programs–a plus for a couple looking to start a family.

Additionally there are three community colleges nearby, Northeast Iowa Community College, Hawkeye Tech, Kaplan University, and Kirkwood Community College.
