Situation Alert! Save our national historic post offices! 600 scheduled for “disposal”

You have probably heard a lot about big cuts to the Postal Service especially the cut to Saturday mail delivery, but the big issue at hand is the loss of our precious and irreplaceable history! This is no doubt a conspiracy of sorts. The scheduled disposal of 600 post offices will net a mere 2 billion dollars in savings and will devastate The post office in Washington, Missouri.the fabric of our cities.

Because these are Federal buildings they can be demolished. And you better believe serious behind the scenes deals have been made between the USPS and developers and members of Congress to personally profit from the sale of these properties.

If it would take a mere 2 billion dollars to save them why for the love of God woudn’t Congress pass a bill to make up the difference? They pass at least 2 billion dollars a day in worthless pork projects yet for a worthy cause they are totally silent. Allowing these national treasures to be handed over to private for profit developers for pennies on the dollar is criminal.

You should be more than outraged! Please take action to let Congress know these sales are not acceptable! these are our historic post offices not private industries.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation named America’s Historic U.S. Post Office Buildings to its 2012 list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.
