Ok, this is getting comical. First, we read about the current rumors swirling around that Ready for Love Bachelor Ernesto Arguello and Eva Longoria are dating. Now, apparently they aren’t really dating, they’re just living together. Meaning, Ernesto and god knows who else from the show are crashing at Eva’s place while they’re in Los Angeles for show-related media stuff. We are just picturing Eva Longoria’s house being this Ready for Love crash pad / potential hide-out for the show’s successful couples, who have had to be in hiding since the show finished taping last August. Just watch, now we’ll probably get that rumor started! Haha!
Ok, so then we unearthed this old bit of reality TV gossip fodder today…that Eva Longoria and Ben Patton, another of the three bachelors from Ready for Love, allegedly dated for a bit way back when in the early stages of casting for the show! Good god!
Now, this nugget of news was posted via The National Enquirer back in 2012, so take it with a grain of salt, but here’s the report:
Even though the sexy 37-year-old beauty now appears to be back with singer Eduardo Cruz – younger brother of Oscar-winner Penelope Cruz – she “fell hard” for Dallas stud Ben Patton after interviewing him for her upcoming NBC dating show, “Ready for Love,” says an insider.
Eva, who split from 27-year-old Cruz in March after dating for more than a year, was spotted kissing him at the L.A. Zoo on April 16, just days before unveiling Ben as one of the three bachelors on the “Today” show.
“Eva first met Ben during the early stages of casting in L.A. back in January, but when they reunited in New York, it was as if they were a couple,” said an insider.
“They have a lot in common – they’re both from Texas, they’re close in age, they’re hardworking and driven, and they’re both gorgeous.
“Eva was so smitten she told Ben, ‘I should just take you for myself, but then I wouldn’t have a TV show!’”
I mean…no wonder the show isn’t doing well! Its executive producer is dating all of the guys! Ha!
Seriously though, we really hope there’s a revamp of the Ready for Love concept and a reboot for a season 2 on NBC. Hopefully they’ll listed to all of the feedback they’re getting from fans and rework the concept a bit, like: 1) allow the matchmakers to pick the contestants, but don’t have them as active participants on the show; 2) get rid of all of the live studio audience stuff; 3) get rid of the glowing cube elevators; 4) focus on just one or two bachelors; 5) include more candid footage of the dates, as opposed to 3 minutes of date footage followed by 25 minutes of analysis….. You know, make it more like The Bachelor — ha!
Ben Patton’s family situation
Joelle Fletcher’s brother Ben Patton was supposed to be ‘The Bachelor’!
I disagree I think the appeal/charm of this is its NOT the Bachelor with more time & money spent on “fantasy dates”. I enjoy hearing the matchmakers though they could cut down on their “pre date” talks, the analysis is interesting and sets this apart.
Where I’d make the biggest change is sitting down with the guys and having them decide the bottom, I feel like there’s too much wiggle room for production to create drama, tension and send home someone the bachelor is still not ready to have leave by putting 3 of the top girls in the bottom. Ignoring those he may feel no chemistry or attraction to but they have slid by.
