Bachelorette contestants react to Eric Hill’s death

Chris Harrison, 42 told ABC News that Andi Dorfman’s contestants of The Bachelorette learned of their castmate Eric Hill‘s death last Wednesday.

“He was a good friend of theirs. Absolutely, they know.”

“We never would have kept it from them,”…. “He was a good friend of theirs. Absolutely, they know.”

Eric Hill, 32, died after a paragliding accident on April 20 in Utah when his canopy collapsed 20 feet from the ground.

The franchise which usually keeps details of the season closely under lock and key broke the rules and had to reveal some details before the season begins like the fact that Eric was sent home early and that he had the first 1 on 1 date. But Chris also explained that the cast was very close so obviously learning about Eric’s death was not easy for them. …..

Harrison said this about how Dorfman and her suitors are handling Hill’s death?

“They’re still dealing with it,” …. “His funeral was a few days ago, [and] we all decided, ‘Let’s deal with this and get past it and heal ourselves'”. “Everybody’s very emotional right now and that’s never a good time to make a final decision.”

Harrison also addresses the big question of how the show will handle his death.

“We’re not sure 100 percent of how we’re going to deal with it,” he said. “We’re doing our best and we made the best decisions we could at the time. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.”

The show is still taping even though the season begins in 2 weeks. She is currently filming her hometown dates.

“We did the best we could trying to be as honorable and decent to the family and to him,” Harrison said. “It was really something we’d never dealt with before but we did it as delicately and respectfully as we could.”

So I guess we will see how this situation unfolds. I expect that we will be shown how the contestants will handle his death on the show.
