Doug is an avid baseball player and was invited to try out for several major league teams. He is an ordained minister, and a lifeguard on weekends.

He was close childhood friends with another Married at First Sight star Sean Varricchio. Per his FYI profile he has been in three long-term relationships, but claims that they ended due to long-distance or lack of any future.

When he first met wife Jamie Otis he was living with his parents in Howell, New Jersey.
