Gizelle Bryant on her infamous divorce from Pastor Jamal Bryant

Gizelle Bryant stars on the latest Real Houswife franchise Real Housewives of the Potomac and one of the most interesting things about her is her infamous divorce from Baltimore megachurch leader Jamal Bryant, 44 who allegedly cheated with multiple women and impregnated a 17-year-old girl in his church.

Jamal Bryant is the founder of the Empowerment Temple AME Church in Baltimore. He ran for Congress for about 1/2 a second last year.

One of three children Gizelle grew up in D.C. daughter of Curtis Graves who served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973 and was a high-ranking official at NASA for three decades.

She met Jamal while attending Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and the pair wed in 2002.

While married to Jamal she led quite an affluent lifestyle. During their divorce proceedings Gizelle claimed that her husband earned more than $350,000 a year.

The two lived together in a $1.5 million waterfront condo in Baltimore’s upscale Canton neighborhood.

The marriage only lasted 7 years and ended as a result of Jamal’s adultery.

In regards to how she learned about the news she told OKMagazine.com,

“Actually the young lady told me,” …… “She called me and told me. That was a lovely day.”

Gizelle confronted her then-husband and he confessed.

“So then after that, obviously I approached him about it and he admitted it,” she said. “So the rest of it, the meat of the infidelity came from him. Not from her.”

Gizelle claims public divorce was one of the hardest times of her life.

“It was extremely isolating and lonely because I really felt like I didn’t have anyone to talk to because there was such a spotlight on he and I in Baltimore,” she said. “I really had to lean on my true friends and family to get me through it.”

“It’s one day at a time,” she said. “But we are now 7-8 years in, so we kind of got it down to a science. There are always little rough days here and there, but he and I are really good friends. And we’ve always been good friends, so we’re really at a good place.”

The couple has three children together – Grace, now aged 11, and twins Angel and Adore, both nine.
