Tonight the ladies of RHOBH head to PUMP for a charity event and meet the final Real Housewife 51-year-old model Kathryn Edwards. Interestingly she knew co-star Lisa Rinna from way back and the first thing Lisa said to her was “You know what’s flashing on me more than anything right now? O.J.” referring to Kathryn’s connection to the infamous trial over 20 years ago.
Edwards was married to NFL star Marcus Allen, 55 who was best friends with O.J. and who allegedly had an affair with his then wife Nicole Brown Simpson —- although this claim is really questionable.
So on tonight’s episode Kyle Richards asks if Edwards knows Faye Resnick, but Edwards is a bit defensive claiming,”no, never met her, never…was only married for a year when the sh!t hit the fan…”.
She goes on to say that in the book Nicole Brown Simpson: The Private Diary of a Life Interrupted Faye accused her of being, “some kinda turn the blind eye look the other way kind of wife…she says she knows me, she doesn’t know me…I didn’t hang out with that group at all.”
Anyhow who is this ex husband Marcus Allen that the women are referring to?
Marcus was born LeMarr Allen on March 26th, 1960 to parents Harold Allen and Gwendolyn Allen. He is a former American football running back and football analyst for CBS.
Allen is considered one of the greatest goal line and short-yard runners in NFL history. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
He retired after the 1997 season and in 1999, Allen was also inducted into the San Diego Hall of Champions.
But Allen also has a place in history because of his relationship with O.J. and Nicole.
In 1996 Allen told lawyers that O.J. Simpson called him from jail to ask him to lie about his relationship with Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. Allen was to provide a critical defense for O.J. in the civil trial by showing that O.J. did not have serious jealousy issues.
But Allen refused to testify that he and Nicole had had an affair and severed the friendship.
O.J. lost the civil trial filed by the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman despite being acquitted of criminal charges.
Interestingly, Allen introduced O.J. to memorabilia dealer Mike Gilbert who would eventually write a book claiming that O.J. confessed to him that he had killed his ex wife.
Anyhow Marcus and Kathryn divorced after 8 years together and she has been married to new husband NFL linebacker Donnie Edwards, 42 for 13 years now. But it sounds like Marcus and his role in the O.J. trial will become an important story-line this season.
