After a seriously crazy season of Bachelor in Paradise, at least one couple did find their happily ever after, Taylor Nolan and Derek Peth.
The couple hit it off from day one and never looked back. The two got engaged last night on the BiP finale. Derek got some help from resident ring designer Neil Lane (although Lane was not actually in paradise this time) in choosing the perfect engagement ring.
Neil explained the situation in an interview with People.
“I did not actually meet with Derek, so it was important for me to better understand him and his personality – and of course Taylor’s as well,” …… “What I gathered was that he was more traditional yet he also liked the idea of a romantic ring.”
In the end Peth had to chose between two different bands for the impressive 2-carat diamond ring: a rose gold ring covered with small diamond details, and a classic platinum ring with a center round diamond and highlighted by two trapezoid and two tapered baguette-cut diamonds.
Derek chose the classic band. “He decided it best suited Taylor,” Neil said. “And Derek really liked that it felt more traditional and classic, but still had a mid-century vibe. She loved it!”
Lane congratulated the couple on Instagram with a close up of the ring.
“Congratulations [Derek Peth] and [Taylor Nolan]! We are so happy to have been a part of your happily ever after. Wishing you two the love story you deserve.”
UPDATE 6-26-2018: Sadly Taylor and Derek have split:
“It is with much sadness that we have decided to end our engagement. We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us. We will still be present in each other’s lives with support, admiration and respect for each other.”
