So Bachelor in Paradise professes to take contestants to an exotic tropical location so they can find love. We have heard rumors from Reality Steve that it’s a little less paradise and a little more of a “situation” due to the creature infestation and the less than 4 star accommodations. I suspect cast members were expecting the Bellagio and it’s a little more travel lodge. In the defense of producers I suspect they threw this together FAST!
But none-the-less the filming takes place in Tulum in the Yucatán Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
We are big history buffs here and this city is drenched in history! It is the site of a medieval Pre-Columbian Maya walled city serving as a major port for Cobá that reached its height between the 13th and 15th century.
Tulum was an important site for the worship of the Diving or Descending god.
It is now divided into four main areas: the archaeological site, the pueblo (or town), the zona hotelera (or hotel zone) and the biosphere reserve of Sian Ka’an. And it is pretty close to Cancun. The weather is humid and tropical which would account for all the bugs contestants had to endure.
Looks like there are plenty of ruins to explore and plenty of white sand beaches to get to know a potential life-partner-in-three-weeks on!
Sounds fascinating! Forget finding love. It looks like a fascinating place to explore on ABC’s dime!
