‘Married at First Sight’ is disturbingly brilliant!

So in case you missed it the new FYI network has created the most amazing/ridiculous show called Married at First Sight based on the Danish hit of the same name where 3 men and 3 women, ages 26 to 33, from the Tri-State Area agree to marry each other sight unseen and at the end of 5 weeks decide if they want to stay together.

The reason I stumbled upon it is because the show stars one of my all time favorite Bachelor stars, Jamie Otis, 27. I could not believe that she was willing to take the reality dating thing to a whole new level and actually marry someone that she had never met!

Other cast members include an EMT and firefighter trainee from Brooklyn named Jason Carrion, 26, a makeup artist/burlesque performer Cortney Hendrix, 26, product development manager Monet Bell, 33, an airplane service technician Vaughn Copeland, 30, and a life guard/commercial sales rep, Doug Hehner, 31.

Four specialists – sexologist, Dr. Logan Levkoff; spiritualist, Greg Epstein; psychologist, Dr. Joseph Cilona; and sociologist, Dr. Pepper Schwartz – work together to match couples on personality, background, values, beliefs and goals and the 6 people agree to marry their chosen partner sight unseen.

Each episode follows the couples as they discover whether or not they are compatible. So essentially we are watching people fall in love backwards. They start with the wedding ceremony and then progress to the Honeymoon and then get to know each other!

And so far so good! Jamie was off to a really rough start with her husband Doug. In fact the 27-year-old nurse from Harlem broke down in tears on her wedding day claiming in her ITM:

‘Walking down the aisle, I am so scared. This is the worst feeling.’

Things go much smoother for the other two couples especially Jason and Cortney. But the two have still not met each other’s families and there is still a lot they don’t know about one another.

Incidentally Jamie Otis and Jason Carrion both said no to doing the show at first.

Monet and Vaughn have excellent physical chemistry but at this point (episode 4) I suspect that will not be enough to make a relationship work, because they seriously get on each other’s nerves.

But needless-to-say this show is much better than you think it could be. The matchmakers actually did an exceptional job matching these couples!

If you haven’t seen it head to Hulu and catch up!!!

It gets an impressive 4 out of 5 clasped hands from us for being an amazing situation!!!!
