The first half FYI’s reality series’ season finale Married at First Sight aired on Tuesday night and not so shockingly things did not turn around for 30-year-old Ashley Doherty and 29-year-old David Norton.
In fact Ashley asks her husband of 6 weeks for a divorce in front of the experts after claiming that he ruined the trust in their relationship by asking out another woman on social media.
Interestingly things were not mutual. David was visibly upset and begged her to stay married.
‘There is love here, and it exists. I know it because I’ve felt it,’ he proclaims during their meeting with the show’s experts. ‘Maybe you haven’t felt it, but I’ve felt it. You know that I want to stay married. You know that’s my decision.’
‘I think that you’re a good person, and I think we did grow a lot throughout this process,’ she told him. ‘I definitely see why we were matched, and I never questioned that. I really tried my best, and I gave this my all.
‘As hard as it was for me the first couple of weeks, I really wanted it to work. I think the best option for us is to get a divorce.’
Dr. Joseph Cilona asked Ashley to detail what went wrong in their relationship. Personally I don’t think Ashley was ever that in to David and was looking for a way out. She did say that things ‘didn’t work for many reasons’, but also pointed to David’s alleged infidelity.
Earlier an arrest record emerged showing that David was arrested for “disorderly conduct” and ordered to complete domestic violence training.
In case you are wondering if Ashley is having any second thoughts about her decision to divorce….I think the answer is a resounding no. In fact I found out about the arrest via some allegations on Twitter and I am guessing the people who were spreading the arrest record were from Ashley’s camp.
Incidentally it looks like Ashley is back together with an ex boyfriend.

I do believe Ashley tried as much as any person can who doesn’t find someone attractive. It had to have been a struggle to do that. Glad she stuck it out.
Also I don’t think she needed an “excuse” as David said about the issue in which he asked that girl out. You don’t need an “excuse” if you aren’t into the person.
maybe not. I am reserving judgment because I know how badly producers treated Davina Kuller last season. Producers were trying to save their asses because they picked bad men and it may be the same thing here. Im not judging Ashley because we really don’t know the whole story. I hope we will get to hear it.
I am honestly not bashing her at ALL. I know they are not portraying her well on the show. my mom was saying she seemed so “cold” and David seems so “sweet”, but I said “I think there is more to this story”.
One thing I really want to know is did Ashley discover some stuff early on that set off alarms and made her distance herself?
If you have any info email me!! thanks
What is wrong with this guy David Norton, quote, “There is love here, and it exists. I know it because I’ve felt it,’ he proclaims during their meeting with the show’s experts. ‘Maybe you haven’t felt it, but I’ve felt it. You know that I want to stay married. You know that’s my decision.’”
Yes, okay you “felt it” but “maybe you haven’t felt it” — love is a two way street Bozo.
David is delusional if he hasn’t figured this out. Or desperate. Wow, almost like a stalker, can’t take no for an answer.
