Who is Thomas Ravenel?

Thomas Ravenel star of Bravo’s Southern Charm is a …. situation! The 51-year-old South Carolina commercial real estate developer and former State Treasurer has had quite a colorful past. But for all of his bad behavior it’s hard to resist his alluring charm.

Thomas Ravenel was born on August 11, 1962 in Charleston, South Carolina and is the youngest of six children and the son of Congressman Arthur Ravenel Jr..

In 1992, Ravenel founded Ravenel Development Corporation, a commercial real estate development company, and moved it to Atlanta Georgia where he focused on retail projects. He moved back to Charleston in 1995.

No surprise Thomas Ravenel is also a multimillionaire.

Ravenel graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, receiving his B.S. in 1985. He later received his M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina in 1991.

Ravenel married in 1995, but separated in 1996. He became engaged again in 2001, but dumped his then-bride by phone, the day before the wedding.

He ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004. He came in third in the Republican primary election.

Ravenel ran for South Carolina Treasurer in 2006, against 9-term state treasurer Democrat Grady Patterson in the 2006 and won.

He was indicted on federal cocaine distribution charges by US Attorney Reginald Lloyd. Allegedly Ravenel purchased less than 500 grams of cocaine through a dealer in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2005, prior to his election as treasurer. (Hmmm any time a politician is caught for something as benign as sex or drugs I smell a conspiracy. I will have to look deeper into this one).

He attended rehabilitation in New Mexico, and then pled guilty to “conspiring to buy and distribute less than 100 grams of cocaine” in September 2007.

Ravenel resigned as treasurer in 2007 after the indictment on cocaine charges. He pled guilty and served 10 months in prison.

The former South Carolina state treasurer and multimillionaire was also charged with a DUI driving in the Hamptons in New York in July of 2013.

Ravenel was arrested around 2:30 a.m. in East Hampton Village. after driving on the shoulder and crossing a double yellow line. Police say Ravenel failed several field sobriety tests and refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

Ravenel endorsed Ron Paul in the 2012 Republican primaries.

In 1995 Ravenel married Mary Ryan Ravenel but divorced her in 1998.

In 2001 he was engaged to Candace Yearwood.

And in 2011 he was engaged to Danielle Tosi from the Upper East side of NYC and the engagement lasted two months.

He is currently in a relationship with his baby mama Kathryn Dennis, a descendant of John C. Calhoun, the seventh vice president of the United States.

They have a daughter, Kensington Calhoun Ravenel, born March 24, 2014, with fellow Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis.

I recently saw that he has a net worth of 2 million dollars but I am having a seriously hard time believing that small figure so I would take that with a grain of salt. These charmers know how to hide their money. I suspect his fortune is much more impressive.
