Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland on Married at First Sight: 6 Months Later

Last night on the two-hour reunion of Married at First Sight: 6 months Later we got to find out which brave couples on FYI’s new controversial series made it to the 6 month mark. But we already knew that couple Vaughn Copeland, 30, and Monet Bell, 33, decided to divorce and go their separate ways at the end of the 5-week journey and had not spoken since they parted ways.

Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland: Divorce

So tonight we got to see sparks fly and tempers flare when the two reunited to discuss why things did not work out. The two had a ton of physical chemistry and probably had sex more than the other 2 couples but interestingly they could not stand one another.

Psychologist and relationship expert, Dr. Cilona contended that this couple actually had the highest level of compatibility of all the couples after a slew of in-depth interviews, a psychological evaluation, four different types of personalities tests and a detailed questionnaire. Cilona attributed the divorce to: the experiment itself, communication, unrealistic expectations and misaligned focus.

Cilona suggests that the stress of the show may have been their downfall.

Despite all the physical chemistry the two began fighting right away. Vaughn felt that Monet was being shallow and not connecting with him in the ways that he needed. Monet contended that Vaughn was a bit of a masochist and wanted a more traditional wife.

Even the Doctor conceded that “Vaughn in particular, appeared to have unrealistic expectations about where Monet should be emotionally in the relationship.”

On the reunion the two threw some serious shade at each other. Vaughn claimed that Monet was not a kind person and Monet claimed Vaughn had some really chauvinistic views of women especially black women.

In the end the two wished each other well, but did not really make any amends. Their divorce didn’t really surprise anyone but Dr. Cilona was hoping they may be able to have a fresh start off-screen, but it sounded like the damage was already done.
