In a surprise to no one, newly engaged Vanderpump Rules stars James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss have decided to call off their engagement and go their separate ways.
Seven months ago in May of 2021, after the cancelling of Coachella in Palm Springs, Kennedy and event specialist Tom Sandoval came up with one amazing and expensive reality show engagement spectacle they lovingly deemed “Rachella”. Kennedy and Sandoval split the cost of the $25,000 event.
James delivered a very heartfelt proposal and a gorgeous solitaire diamond ring worth an estimated $100,000.
But alas, Kennedy who had been struggling with alcohol, and who had allegedly cheated on Raquel with both men and women could not keep this relationship together.
“After these 5 wonderful years we had together, we decided we have two different goals and made the decision to call off the engagement,” James, 29, and Raquel, 27, said in a joint statement on their separate Instagram pages on Sunday, Dec. 5. “We love each other very much, but we aren’t in love anymore. We want nothing but the best for each other so please keep any thoughts positive. Sending Love.”
Some fans were shocked since the two had attended the Alo Winter House party together just three weeks prior, with James referring to Raquel as his “beautiful fiancée” in an Instagram post on November 10.
Me—not so much. Well I am happy for both of them. Raquel was WAY too good for James and James can finally be 100% gay. If you recall on season 6 his best friend Logan Noh, confessed that he was in love with James and also let it slip that he and James had slept together.
